It is not permissible to work in any capacity in which there prevails conflict with the Shariah. If working for the airline company entails mixing with females or working with them in offices, etc., then such employment is not permissible.
Regarding the last issue of the majlis there is a hadith regarding a woman not taking off her burqa in any place that is not the home of her husband. What should we take from this hadith? Does it mean that when a woman goes out with her husband and the husband is with the men in one room and the ladies are in another room the wife should still sit in burqa? Does it mean that women that work in hospitals or schools where there is purdah, they still have to wear their burqas while teaching etc.? What should we understand from the hadith?
The fact that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) cursed the woman who removes her jilbaab in a place other than her home indicates the emphasis of maintaining hijaab. If a woman visits friends and relatives, there is the possibility of ghair mahram male relatives or her friend’s husband accidentally coming within view. The Fuqaha have explicitly ruled that it is not permissible for a man to look at any garment of a woman. Gaudy feminine garments also excite passion in man. For this reason it is Makrooh for a man to drink water from a glass if he is aware that a woman has drunk from it, and vice versa. A man whose eyes accidentally fall on the beautiful dress of a woman even from behind, is sure to be passionately excited. Most men, who lack Taqwa, instead of reciting Ta-awwuz and Wa La Houla, will begin fantasizing about the woman. As it is, his own wife is ‘stale’ for him. Even if he did not see the face of the woman, her dress is likely to influence his heart. It is therefore not permissible for a woman to be careless by removing her jilbaab when she visits other homes. She can remove her Niqaab, but she should not strut about in the homes of other people without her jilbaab. Rasulullah (sallallahu layhi wasallam) said: “A woman advabnces (comes forward) in the form of shaitaan, and retreats in the form of shaitaan.” In other words, whether a man sees a woman from the front or from behind, shaitaan is ever eady to excite his nafsaani passion. Hence, as far as possible, a woman should not unnecessarily remove her outer-cloak when she is visiting relatives and friends. In the first place, there is no hijaab in the hospitals and schools of today. It is not permissible for women to work in surroundings where they are unable to observe proper Shar’i hijaab. In a truly Islamic state, the authorities will make proper arrangements for correct observance of hijaab in such places where it is essential to have female staff, e.g. females-only hospitals. Furthermore, every law has exceptions. An exception cannot be cited to undermine the general law.

Your decision to quit your 18-year job with the finance company was an inspiration of guidance from Allah Ta’ala. It indicated His mercy on you. Question regarding working as a telemarketer.
The ‘telemarketing‘ methods described by you are not permissible in the Shariah. It is not permissible to interact with females to sell wares to them in the way described by you. The observance of Hijaab is compulsory. It is not permissible for a man to call at a house and begin his sales talk with a woman. The persistent attitude aggravates the prohibition. It is Islamically shameless and unjust for a man firstly to talk a woman into buying anything from him. Secondly, the salesman’s shamelessness in his method of persistence is immoral, especially when a woman is the victim on whom the salesman is preying. Allah Ta’ala is The Sole Raaziq (Provider of sustenance). It does not behove a Muslim who believes in the providence of Allah Ta’ala to adopt the despicable methods of telemarketing.
I am a young girl. My parents insist that I attend university. I am averse to go to university as I understand the Islamic requirement of Hijaab. You appear to be an intelligent girl. It should not be difficult for you to understand what you should do. If your parents insist that you abandon Islam, will you do so? It is haraam for you to obey your parents in their haraam wishes. It is haraam for you to go to university. You are inviting the Wrath and the La’nat (Curse) of Allah Ta’ala and His Malaaikah on you if you attend university. Even if your parents threaten to expel you from the home, you should remailfirm in your refusal. Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that obedience to any being which involves disobedience to Allah Ta’ala is not lawful. You are not permitted to put yourself up for prostitution to satify the satanis desires desires of your parents. University is another name for fornication and prostitution. No one ever emerges unscathed from such an evil abode. The early Muslims had to sacrifice even their lives under torture for the sake of their Imaan. You are called on to only abstain from a place of immorality for the sake of your Imaan.

People are really groveling and scraping the very bottom of the barrel of nafsaaniyat and jahaalat when they cite the Sahaabah and the Holy Wives of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) as substantiation for their practices which are stepping stones for zina of different degrees. The Honourable Ladies of Rasulullah’s House never conducted a girls madrasah or a western secular school which is nowadays dubbed ‘Islamic’ school to deceive parents who have deceived themselves because they simply want to be deceived so that these evil secular schools can have some justification and gain acceptance in the Muslim community. There is absolutely no basis in the Sunnah for these hybrid secular schools and for the haraam zina style teaching by a young girl in a mixed class of baaligh boys and girls. Zina of the eyes, zina of the ears and zina of the minds are being perpetrated every moment in that shaitaani class with so many shayaateen set loose by this haraam system. Those who present fallacious arguments to justify such haraam practices are making a mockery of the Sahaabah and the Holy Wives by citing them as substantiation. They are furthermore, slandering these holy personages by attributing lies to them.
When occasionally the pious Sahaabah and pious Taabieen would visit the elderly and saintly wives of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) to gain some knowledge of the DEEN, not worldly knowledge, they would be behind a screen as commanded by the Qur’aan. After gaining the knowledge in a very short time, they would depart probably never to return again. By what stretch of imagination can these juhala equate the haraam school set-up with the method in which the Holy Wives imparted Deeni knowledge on a very very informal basis and observing strict Hijaab. On the contrary, the group of baaligh boys and girls being taught by a young girl constitutes a class of zina. Shayaateen constantly are in their company. Their logic is disgraceful.
My niece and another grade 12 boy who is unrelated to her, are the only two pupils who are studying physical science. The Islamic school has assigned a non-Muslim male tutor to teach them after school hours when no others are around. The question arises, what happens when the Muslim boy happens to be absent and only my niece has to be in the company of the non-Muslim male teacher? The Islamic school says about such events that ‘sacrifices for the sake of the Deen have to be made’. Is it permissible for the Muslim public to support such a school?

Truly, the Ummah is engulfed with fitnah on every side. May Allah Ta’ala protect us all from the evil, fitnah, nafsaaniyat and shaitaaniyat of those who are supposed to be the learned ones. Evil originates from them and their own evil will rebound and hem them in.

His income is halaal. He is not a party to making an interest transaction nor is he a witness. He only writes the transaction after it had been transacted by others. It is haraam to be a party to a riba transaction in the making.
Q. How can a chartered accountant use his knowledge to serve the Deen?
Your question is like: How can a shopkeeper or a shoemaker or a labourer use his knowledge to serve the Deen? Their knowledge cannot serve the Deen. However, the money they earn can be utilized correctly and in lawful ways. Charity can be given from their wealth.
Q. Is it permissible for Muslims to join the police force in a non-Muslim country?
Its is not permissible for Muslims to work in the police force in even the Muslim countries of this age.

It is not permissible for women to even visit the qabrustan. To a greater degree will the prohibition apply to them working there. Whether the women are Muslim or non-Muslim it is not permissible.
Q. A maulana in his Jumuah lecture urged husbands and parents to educate their womenfolk in the secular fields. They should become professionals such as lawyers, etc. Is this maulana not in violation of the Shariah with his teaching womenfolk to come out from their homes and enter the immoral secular educational institutions?
The ‘maulana’ who exhorts women to plunge into the cauldrons of immorality in the pursuit of secular knowledge, is a shaitaan in human form. About such jaahil ‘learned’ men, Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “Verily, I fear for my Ummah such aimmah (deviate and jaahil imams, maulanas and sheikhs) who will be mudhilleen (i.e. leading Muslims astray).” This ‘maulana’ is one such specimen of the materialization of this prediction of Nabi-e-Kareem (sallallahu alayhi wasallam).
Q. Is it permissible to work in a hotel or restaurant which serves liquor and pork? Will the wages of a Muslim be halaal?
Besides the question of the wages, it is not permissible to work in establishments which deal with haraam items. It is not permissible for a Muslim to work in even the supermarkets and hypermarkets of this time because all these shops sell liquor, pork and many other haraam items. Nevertheless, if a Muslim has already taken up employment in such a business, his wages will remain halaal although shorn of barkat. While the correct thing to do is to abandon the work and seek alternate employment, this advice is usually given to only those of strong Imaan. People who are defective and weak of Imaan, should not abandon their job. They should continue working and be on the lookout for better avenues of income. At the same time they should repent constantly and supplicate to Allah Ta’ala.
Q. I am a secular student. Is copying in exams permissible?
Such dishonesty is not permissible. It is far below the honour of a Muslim to behave so cowardly. Copying in exams is tantamount to theft. It is despicable. The copier lacks honour and honesty. Even if the education is secular, copying is not permissible.
My daughter posed this question to me: How is it possible for a Muslim female to become a gynecologist if secular education is taboo?
It is not Waajib for a Muslim female to become a gynecologist. But it is Waajib on her and Waajib on her parents to ensure that her Imaan and Akhlaaq are safeguarded. Universities are dens of zina and immorality where neither Imaan nor moral character is safe. Hence, it is infinitely superior to remain ignorant of secular sciences in the circumstances. On the Day of Qiyaamah your daughter will not be asked why she did not become a gynecologist. But she will be asked and possibly punished for having ruined her modesty and moral character in the den of zina which they term university.
Is it permissible for a Muslim contractor to build a Hindu temple or a church?
It is not permissible.
I am a baaligh girl who will be completing high school. My parents insist that I go to university, but I am refusing. I am accused of disobedience to my parents. They say the curse of Allah will settle on me if I disobey them. I am confused. Please guide me in this matter.
Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that such obedience which leads to disobedience to Allah is not permissible for anyone. It is not permissible to obey even parents if they instruct one to commit sin. It is haraam for a Muslim girl to attend university. Universities are places of immorality which destroy akhlaaq and Imaan.
Immorality has been given respectability and accorded acceptance under cover of education. It is absolutely haraam for you to go to university. It is haraam for your parents to send you to such an evil place and it is haraam for you to obey them in their haraam instruction. You are not regarded as disobedient by the Shariah for refusing to abide by the unlawful wishes of your parents. Your refusal is an act of ibaadat.
Q. Is the study of accountancy permissible?
A. While the subject of accountancy is permissible, the university environment is haraam. Intermingling of sexes, music, drugs, liquor, and other acts of immorality and kufr are rife at all universities. On account of these haraam acts, it is not permissible to study at a university. Perhaps the subject could be pursued by means of a correspondence course.
Q. The evil and immorality raking universities and all western educational institutions are undeniable. Doctors and professionals in other essential fields are necessary accessories of life. Is it permissible for Muslims, males and females, to pursue studies at these universities in view of the need for these professional services?
A. While it is permissible to become a doctor, it is not permissible to study at a haraam university where a host of evil and immorality is committed. It is also not permissible to experiment with dead human bodies. Thus, if the only way in which to become a doctor is to perpetrate evil and haraam, and to contaminate and even eradicate one’s Imaan, then it is not permissible. People have difficulty understanding this Shar’i concept of strict prohibition despite the need. In fact most people rebuff the prohibition. Their attitude is the consequence of their gross failure to understand the maqsad (goal/purpose) of life on earth. Earthly life is temporary – extremely short-lived. In relation to the never-ending, everlasting life of the Aakhirah which cannot be quantified even in billions and trillions of millennia or trillions of light years, mankind’s earthly life is not even infinitesimal. It is in reality non-existent in that relationship. Allah Ta’ala has despatched us to earth to pass through a stringent test of Imaan. The few days we have hear on earth have to be constructively employed in preparation for Maut, Barzakh (the life in the Qabar), and Aakhirah (life in Jannat). Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “What relationship do I have with the world? My analogy is like a horse-rider (in the hot desert) who rests for a while in the shade of a tree (then leaves the shade to set out in the desert heat to reach his destination).” “Be on earth like one who crosses the road…..” In the pursuit of this lofty Maqsad, every obstacle, poison and detraction must be incumbently abandoned. Whatever is inimical and negatory for the achievement of the Goal of the Aakhirah must compulsorily be shunned regardless of the worldly adverse consequences. Western educational institutions are vice dens where immorality (fisq and fujoor, in fact kufr) reign supreme. For the acquisition of the undeniable benefits which these immoral institutions of kufr offer, it is most unintelligent to sacrifice Imaan and Akhlaaq (moral character). No person ever emerges unscathed from the conflagration of immorality and kufr into which he/she plunges when entering university. May Allah Ta’ala save Muslims from the calamities of these haraam institutions.
Q. In our country, Gambia, Muslim women are joining the security forces. There is a shortage of men. Is this permissible?
A. Even if there is a shortage of men, it is haraam for women to join the security forces or any public department. This is another practice and attitude of the western kuffaar which Muslims have adopted. Allah Ta’ala has created woman for the home role, not for public activities. There are many factors of evil, immorality and oppression in this profession.
Q. Is it permissible to be an accountant?
A. Being an accountant is just like being a worker in any other halaal profession or just like a trader. Whatever is haraam in working and trading will be haraam for the worker and the trader. Similarly whatever is haraam in accountancy will be haraam for the accountant. If the accountant has to be a witness to a riba contract or he has to draw up a riba contract, then these acts will not be permissible. The profession of accountancy is permissible. Only specific acts which are prohibited are not permissible.
Q. I am an accountant. Is it permissible for me to work in an Islamic bank?
A. Banks are primarily institutions of riba. Even the so-called Islamic banks are involved in riba and haraam transactions which they pass off as Shariah-compliant. It is not permissible to work for any of these banks.
Q. I work in a supermarket where I am required to pack even haraam tinned products. Is my job permissible?
A. It is not permissible to handle the haraam products. Continue with your present work, and make dua for a better avenue of Rizq to open up for you. Be on the lookout for alternative work where you will not have to contend with haraam products and issues. May Allah Ta’ala open the ways of Halaal Rizq for you.
Q. Is it permissible for a Muslim barber to shave the beards of non-Muslims?
A. It is haraam for a barber to cut/shave the beard of even non-Muslims. Similarly it is haraam for him to cut the hair of females, even if they are non-Muslims. The Qur’aan forbids aiding and abetting in sin and transgression.
Q. I work in a non-Muslim supermarket. I have to handle and pack also haraam products. Is my salary halaal?
A. Although it is not permissible for the Muslim worker to sell, pack or handle any haraam products at the shop where he works, he is nevertheless, entitled to his full wage for being at the shop. While the salary is contaminated, it is halaal. Be on the lookout for other employment.
Q. I work in a restaurant which sells haraam food. But, I do not handle the food. Is my salary halaal?
A. It is not permissible to work in a restaurant that sells haraam food. Nevertheless, your income despite being bereft of barkat is not haraam. You should find alternative employment.
Q. Is it permissible to work in an Islamic bank?
A. It is not permissible to work for these so-called Islamic banks. Besides their entire institution being structured on riba, the environment in these westernized bank-settings is decidedly immoral. Fisq and fujoor are rampantly prevailing in these institutions. We have heard some very weird immoral episodes being enacted inside these banks. Stay far, very far from these haraam institutions.
Q. Is it permissible to work in the tax-collecting department?
A. In Islam tax is haraam. The punishment for a tax-collector is severe. His duas are not accepted. It is not permissible to work in any capacity in the tax department.
Q. Is it permissible for Muslims to work in the intelligence agencies of countries?
A. It is not permissible for Muslims to work in such institutions or any government department due to the oppression, cruelty and laws which are in conflict with the Shariah. Allah Ta’ala states in the Qur’aan Majeed: “Those who do not decide/judge according to the (Shariah) which Allah has Revealed, verily they are the kaafiroon.”
Q. What are the Islamic requisites when a male doctor examines a female patient?
A. If necessary, and a female doctor is not available, then it is permissible for a male doctor to treat a woman. It will be haraam for the woman to expose more of her body than what is absolutely necessary. Her entire body, including the face must be covered. It is explained in the kitaabs that she should dress in an old garment and cut out from the garment the amount which will expose the part to be treated. Thus, if a doctor has to attend to a specific wound, then that part of the garment covering the wound should be cut open. It will not be permissible, for example, for the woman to roll up her whole sleeve if the wound is on her upper arm. Her whole arm must remain covered, and the dress must be cut to expose only the wound.
Q. I am an accountant and took up employment at FNB commercial property division as a management accountant. With reference to my job, please advise the Shariah/Islamic legality of the position. I have been employed for about a year. If the position is not suitable, do I save up and dispose of the income earned during my employment at the bank? Should I ask for a possible transfer to Islamic banking?
A. Allah Ta’ala states in the Qur’aan Majeed: “Do not aid one another in sin and transgression.” Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that all those involved in riba (interest) transactions in whatever capacity, be they witnesses to the deal, are equal in sin. The Qur’aan Majeed further issues an ultimatum of war for those who indulge in riba, and brands them as mad people driven to insanity by the “touch of shaitaan”. All commercial banks, including the so-called Islamic banks, are capitalist institutions of riba. Riba is the very life-blood and breathing of the capitalist banks. As such it is not permissible to work in a bank even in a so-called ‘Islamic’ bank. Working in a bank is to aid and abet in sin and transgression. Therefore, your job at the bank is not permissible. While it is not permissible to work at the bank, there is no incumbent need for you to save up and dispose of what you have already earned at the bank. This ruling is governed by certain principles of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence). Nevertheless, you should be on the lookout for other work.
Q. Is it permissible for a Muslim to be a policeman and a judge in a non -Muslim country?
A. It is haraam for a Muslim to be a policeman in a kaafir country and even in all these kufr-fisq Muslim states. A policeman has to act in accordance with the haraam/zulm laws of the country. A Muslim judge who has to judge according to kaafir law, becomes a murtad. Allah Ta’ala says in the Qur’aan Majeed: “Whoever does not decree according to that Law revealed by Allah verily they are kaafiroon.” It is never permissible for a Muslim to become a judge to administer kuffaar law.
Q. Is it permissible for a Muslim female to become a journalist?
A. It is not permissible for a Muslim female to become a journalist because this profession requires exposure and mingling with the opposite sex. Abandonment of haya (shame and modesty) is an incumbent corollary of this profession.
Q. Is it permissible for a married woman to earn? To whom does the money she earns belong?
A. A married woman may work and earn from home or in a purdah-protective environment only with the permission of her husband. It is not permissible for her to work and earn even from her marital home without the consent of her husband. The same rules apply to an unmarried woman. Without the consent of her father she may not work and earn even from home. Whatever she earns is her own property. Neither the husband nor the father can claim her earnings. Just as a father has more dignity than his son, and just as a mother has greater dignity than her children, and just as the elder brother has greater dignity than his younger brother, and just as an elder sister has greater dignity than her younger sister, and just as a mother has more dignity than her son despite him being a male, and just as an Ustaadh has more dignity than his students, and just as a Shaikh has greater dignity than his mureeds, and just as every senior/superior person in Islam has more dignity than every subordinate, so too does the husband have greater dignity than his wife. The superiority of the husband over his wife is vividly and conclusively borne out by Rasulullah’s statement that if he had to order anyone to prostrate for any person, he would instruct the wife to make Sajdah for her husband. This effectively negates the western doctrine of the equality of the sexes. The alleged ‘financial independence’ of the wife is circumscribed by the husband’s rights over her. She can become financially independent only with the consent of her husband. Even with regard to her own money, Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) instructs her to refrain from using her own wealth without the consent of her husband. Irrespective of her having sole ownership of her assets, she is not entirely free to dispose of such assets without the approval of her husband. Should he instruct her to withhold spending her own wealth, obedience devolves as a Waajib obligation on her. She has absolutely no right to unilaterally enter into any financial contracts with anyone without the consent of her husband. This prohibition has greater emphasis with regard to litigation. Muslims should shake of the encumbrance of mental inferiority and intellectual colonization which their western masters have imposed on them. As followers of Allah’s Creed, we are required to proclaim with great clarity the unadulterated doctrines and tenets of Islam. We owe no one any apology. There is absolutely no need to dilute the pristine pure injunctions of Islam. Almost everything of Islam is repugnant to the West in particular. Let us not care a damn for their repugnance. The claims of equality made by the MPL mob to assuage the kufr brains of the gender equality mob are thus utterly baseless and rejected by Islam.
Q. Women working: This practice due to it being so common has become acceptable. It is not regarded as a munkar (evil). Even Deeni conscious people who are particular with regards haraam and halaal issues fail in this aspect. Also, doctors and dentists, etc. mingle with their ghair mahareem nurses and female secretaries and staff. In the kutub of Ahaadith it is recorded that Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “That of the signs of the Hour is that businesses will be expanded so much that the wife will assist her husband in the business.” IN another Hadith it is mentioned: “Men and women will do business together.” Please comment on this lamentable situation.
A. Brother, by the fadhl of Allah Ta’ala, we do comment from time to time on all the evils dominating the Ummah. Rasulullah’s predictions are materializing in front of our eyes. Even the ‘Deeni’ conscious Ulama have extremely far-fetched and corrupt interpretations with which they neutralize the unambiguous statements of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and the commands and prohibitions of the Shariah. We are living in times about which Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “Islam started off ghareeb (forlorn, weak and friendless). Soon will it return to that state of forlornness. Therefore congratulations for the ghuraba (i.e. for those ‘mad’ upholders and proponents of the Sunnah and the Haqq).” It is common knowledge that all those who have female staff are involved in zina of varying degrees. Every argument they fabricate for justifying their haraam acts and for employing female staff is baseless in terms of the Shariah. So many homes have broken up, so many ‘pious’ men have ruined their piety, so many men bring misery into their relationship with their wives because of zina involvement with their female staff, and so many supposedly good and pious ulama have become zindeeqs with their kufr interpretations to justify mingling with female staff. All their haraam attention is focussed on their female staff, leaving hardly any halaal attention for their wives. Brother, the situation is not going to get better. It will degenerate to the abominable level where the ‘leader’ of the Muslims will commit zina in public in the Mihraab of the Jaami’ Musjid in Damascus. The Aalim of Haqq who will raise his voice in protest will be slain. May Allah Ta’ala have mercy on us and may He keep us firm on the Haqq until the very last breath of life.
Q. Is it permissible for a married woman to operate a business?
A. A woman may with the permission of her husband, operate any lawful business from her home or from a place where there will be no contact with males. She may not open a shop in a public mall for example. Without the consent of her husband she may not operate any business even from the home.
