Abu ad-Darda (radhiyallahu anhu) said:
“The best of you is the one who says to his companion: ‘Come, let us fast (or any other ibaadah) before we pass away.’ And the worst of you is the one who says to his companion: ‘Come, let us eat, drink and engage ourselves in futility before we pass away.’ (Abu Nuaym)
Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood (radhiyallahu anhu) said:
“Walk towards Salaat (i.e. to the masjid), for indeed, those better than you walked towards it: Abu Bakr, Umar, the Muhaajiroon, the Ansaar (May Allah be pleased with all of them). They would shorten their footsteps (to increase the number of steps each of which contains reward) and they would make abundant Zikr of Allah (whilst walking to the Masjid). And it is (obligatory) upon you that you do not take as a companion anyone, except one who aids you in the Remembrance of Allah (Azza wa Jal).” (Imam Bayhaqi’s Sunan al-Kubra)
