Salman al-Farsi (radhiyallahu anhu) said:
“The example of the believer in this Dunya is like the example of the ill patient. With him is his doctor who knows his illness and his cure. When he (the patient) desires what harms him (eg. delicious food), he (the doctor) prevents him saying, “Do not go near it, for if you approach it, it will destroy you.” So he (the doctor) continues preventing him (from a variety of food and activities the patient may desire), until he (the patient) is cured from his ailment. Likewise, the believer desires many things in which others may have been given preference in terms of (quality of) living, but Allah prevents him from them (ie. desirable things), and keeps him away, until He takes him (from this Dunya) and enters him into Jannah.”
