Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (radhiyallahu anhu) narrates:
“The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) used to feed the camel, sweep the house, mend the sandal, patch the clothes, milk the sheep, eat with the servant and grind (the flour) with him when he (the servant) would get tired. He would not be embarrassed to carry his goods from the market to his family. He would shake hands with both the rich and the poor, and he was (always) the first to give Salaam. He would not look down on any invitation even if it was just to (eat) the poorest quality dates. He was the least burdensome. He was soft of character, generous of nature and graceful in social interactions. He was cheerful of face, smiling often (but) without laughing, and in a state of grief (though) without frowning. He was humble without disgracing (oneself), generous without being extravagant, tender of heart, and compassionate to every Muslim. Never ever would he burp (stemming) from eating one’s fill and nor would he stretch his hand (to a thing due) to covetousness.”

ﻭﺭﻭﻯ ﺃﺑﻮ ﺳﻌﻴﺪ اﻟﺨﺪﺭﻱ ﺃﻥ اﻟﻨﺒﻲ ﺻﻠﻲ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﻛﺎﻥ ﻳﻌﻠﻒ اﻟﺒﻌﻴﺮ ﻭﻳﻘﻢ اﻟﺒﻴﺖ ﻭﻳﺨﺼﻒ اﻟﻨﻌﻞ ﻭﻳﺮﻗﻊ اﻟﺜﻮﺏ ﻭﻳﺤﻠﺐ اﻟﺸﺎﺓ ﻭﻳﺄﻛﻞ ﻣﻊ اﻟﺨﺎﺩﻡ ﻭﻳﻄﺤﻦ ﻣﻌﻪ ﺇﺫا ﺃﻋﻴﺎ ﻭﻛﺎﻥ ﻻ ﻳﻤﻨﻌﻪ اﻟﺤﻴﺎء ﺃﻥ ﻳﺤﻤﻞ ﺑﻀﺎﻋﺘﻪ ﻣﻦ اﻟﺴﻮﻕ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺃﻫﻠﻪ ﻭﻛﺎﻥ ﻳﺼﺎﻓﺢ اﻟﻐﻨﻲ ﻭاﻟﻔﻘﻴﺮ ﻭﻳﺴﻠﻢ ﻣﺒﺘﺪﻳﺎ ﻭﻻ ﻳﺤﺘﻘﺮ ﻣﺎ ﺩﻋﻲ ﺇﻟﻴﻪ ﻭﻟﻮ ﺇﻟﻰ ﺣﺸﻒ اﻟﺘﻤﺮ ﻭﻛﺎﻥ ﻫﻴﻦ اﻟﻤﺆﻧﺔ ﻟﻴﻦ اﻟﺨﻠﻖ ﻛﺮﻳﻢ اﻟﻄﺒﻴﻌﺔ ﺟﻤﻴﻞ اﻟﻤﻌﺎﺷﺮﺓ ﻃﻠﻖ اﻟﻮﺟﻪ ﺑﺴﺎﻣﺎ ﻣﻦ ﻏﻴﺮ ﺿﺤﻚ ﻣﺤﺰﻭﻧﺎ ﻣﻦ ﻏﻴﺮ ﻋﺒﻮﺳﺔ ﻣﺘﻮاﺿﻌﺎ ﻣﻦ ﻏﻴﺮ ﻣﺬﻟﺔ ﺟﻮاﺩا ﻣﻦ ﻏﻴﺮ ﺳﺮﻑ ﺭﻗﻴﻖ اﻟﻘﻠﺐ ﺭﺣﻴﻤﺎ ﺑﻜﻞ ﻣﺴﻠﻢ ﻟﻢ ﻳﺘﺠﺸﺄ ﻗﻂ ﻣﻦ ﺷﺒﻊ ﻭﻟﻢ ﻳﻤﺪ ﻳﺪﻩ ﺇﻟﻰ ﻃﻤﻊ.
